A special programme chronicling the 100-year history of the Derby Shakespeare Theatre Company will be aired on BBC Radio Derby from noon till 1pm on Bank Holiday Monday the 26th of May 2008. Hosted by local radio presenter and theatre critic Andy Potter the show promises to be a real treat - don't miss it!

One of the city's most popular theatrical venues, the Derby Playhouse Theatre, has closed down after going into liquidation. The venue, where Derby Shakespeare have performed numerous times, has been forced to abandon its current programme of productions and its future is currently uncertain.
Our first centenary production, King Lear, has now been cast and has begun rehearsals. Director Alan Smith will be presenting his take on the classic tragedy at The Guildhall Theatre in February 2008 - click here for booking information.
King Lear and Henry V will be the shows to mark the company's centenary year. The plays, directed by Alan Smith and Ian Arnot respectively, will soon be auditioning.
