About This Production

‘Hamlet’ is regarded as one of Shakespeare’s most challenging plays both for the actor playing the eponymous role and the director. Through dialogue and soliloquies the young prince’s tormented private thoughts are revealed. Playing Hamlet is award-winning actor, Christopher Scott who has received such great acclaim over recent years for his portrayal of Henry V, Mark Anthony, and Octavius Caesar.

We are delighted to welcome Terry Smith as Director. Terry’s involvement with professional theatre has given him an enviable reputation in the Derby area for an adventurous and innovative approach to everything he directs. This is exactly what the Derby Shakespeare Theatre Company wanted for its first production back on the stage of Derby Theatre. We are delighted with this exciting, visually stunning, innovative production.
