'Twelfth Night' & 'Richard II'

Derby Playhouse

6th - 18th February 1961

Kitty Scopes & Leslie Titmuss

As was the custom at the time in 1961 we presented our 'Shakespeare Festival' - two back-to-back productions in consecutive weeks at the old Derby Playhouse in Sacheveral Street.

As usual for the Shakespeare Festival this consisted of two contrasting plays - a comedy and a history. While this marked the fifth outing for 'Twelfth Night' it was just the second time since 1909 that the then British Empire Shakespeare Society, Derby Branch, had performed 'Richard II'.

We hope to be able to add more information and photographs from this production soon.
