The Tempest

  • Guildhall Theatre DE1 3AH United Kingdom (map)

If you had the chance of revenge would you take it whatever the cost?

You have power and status and your brother throws you and your infant daughter out to sea to die. You wash up on a desert island, learn a different kind of power and enslave a magical creature and a monster to do your bidding. 12 years you survive there bringing up your daughter as best you can, until a chance voyage brings your enemies within your grasp.
The Tempest is a play of illusion, loss and maybe redemption, told with passion and humour, and with one man's rage at the wrongs of the world. Join us to explore if there really is a brave new world on the horizon.
Derby Shakespeare Theatre Company brings William Shakespeare’s last play to the Guildhall Theatre in a new interpretation. This accessible, fresh show might challenge or delight you, but will certainly entertain you. Our director is Tim Heywood who created our highly acclaimed Minack Theatre / Broomfield Hall production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Enjoy the gripping and highly visual telling of this classic story. The production is suitable for theatre goers over 10.
