venue

Derby Playhouse

Dates

3rd - 15th February 1958

Directors

L. H. Titmuss, A.G. Revill & K. Collier

As was the custom at the time in 1958 we presented our 'Shakespeare Festival' - two back-to-back productions in consecutive weeks at the old Derby Playhouse in Sacheveral Street.

This year's productions marked a particularly significant milestone in our history as 1958 was the 50th anniversary of the society's formation.  These two productions were a superb way to mark the occasion, featuring the music of Berlioz and Cherubini and settings designed by Playhouse designer Inigo Monk who would go on to design for ATV on Emergency Ward 10 and the Morecambe and Wise Show.

At their heart, as always, were the wonderful performances of our talented performers and the hard work of our dedicated crew members - the same qualities that keep our company alive today!

We hope to be able to add more information and photographs from this production soon.
