Derby Shakespeare Theatre Company (DSTC) is committed to protecting your privacy. We will use the information that we collect about you in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003.

Collecting your data

You give us your information when you become a member, buy a ticket, sign up for one of our events, make a donation or gift-aid declaration, or communicate with us. We maintain a record of your transaction history, but we never store your card number.


Social Media

We use social media to broadcast messages and updates about events and news. On occasion we may reply to comments or questions you make to us on social media platforms. You may also see adverts from us on social media that are tailored to your interests. Depending on your settings or the privacy policies of social media and messaging services like Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, you might give third parties permission to access information from those accounts or services.


We keep a record of the emails we send you, and we may track whether you receive or open them so we can make sure we are sending you the most relevant information. When supplying your email address as part of a membership application, you will be required to “opt-in” to our marketing communications and unless you do so we will be unable to send you information pertaining to your membership. You can unsubscribe at any point, using the link on each email, or by contacting us.

Emails


We will not share any personal details with any other third parties without your agreement, unless required in order to fulfil our contract with you, or allowed by law. In general, the third-party providers used by us to fulfil our contract with you will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us. These providers include our Ticketing system provider, Email and Mail distribution services.

We will only ever share your data in other circumstances if we have your explicit and informed consent as detailed above.

Sharing your data


Our site may, from time to time, contain links to and from the third party websites. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to these websites.

Third party websites


Your personal data will be held and processed by Trustees of DSTC. We maintain secure systems to hold contact details and a record of your interactions with us such as ticket purchases, donations, memberships, queries, complaints and attendance at special events.

Data is held by us for as long as is legally or practically necessary for our business. Once that necessity is past we have a regular programme of data suppression and deletion. This ensures that your data is not held indefinitely on our systems.

Storing your data


You have the following rights related to your personal data:

●      The right to request us to stop processing your personal data
●      The right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office or Fundraising Regulator

You have the right to ensure that your personal data is being processed lawfully (“Subject Access Right”). Your subject access right can be exercised in accordance with data protection laws and regulations. Any subject access request must be made in writing. We will provide your personal data to you within the statutory time frames. To enable us to trace any of your personal data that we may be holding, we may need to request further information from you.
