From Rome To Polaris - DSTC Goes to Space!

In December 2025 we filmed a scene from Julius Caesar which, in collaboration with Star Bottle, will be the first time ever (we think!) that Shakespeare has been beamed into space and now we are all over the place! We've been in The Stage and the Derbyshire Times, on BBC radio and TV and who knows where else we may be cropping up! We still think it's perfect for The One Show…

Because we are going to The Minack Theatre we had already cast our summer production which just so happened to be Julius Caesar, so when they were looking for a company to work with and found us it seemed that the stars aligned. This recording of Casesar’s famous speech from Act 3, Scene 1, which references the constancy of the north star, will be digitised and beamed to Polaris A, the North Star itself. This marks 430 years since Julius Caesar was first performed at The Globe in London and it will take 430 years for the transmission to arrive at Polaris.

Huge thanks to actors Ian Currie (Julius Caesar) and Rick Law (Metellus Cimber), and to director Leni Robson for giving up their time to be involved in this monumental and exciting project.

If you’d like to see the scene live you can join us for the whole play at our performances in Derby and Cornwall this summer, click the buttons below for tickets:
