All the world's a stage...and you could be on it!

Do you fancy having a go at acting? Perhaps you’re interested in lighting, sound, props, costume or stage management. We're always looking for new members, so whether you'd like to perform with us or help out behind the scenes we'd love to hear from you.

Do I need any experience?

Absolutely not. Most of our members join as complete beginnners who just fancy having a go at treading the boards. We are lucky enough to count a couple of professional actors among our number, but we accept any level of experience.

Are there any age restrictions?

We accept, and actively encourage, members of all ages at DSTC. Though if you are under 16, chaperone arrangements will need to be made.

Can I join at any time?

You can join us at any time, and you'll be very welcome. However, we encourage new members to first contact us a couple of weeks before a performance week. This means that you can come and watch a rehearsal or two, see a finished show on stage and then be ready to join the next round of auditions. Once a show is cast it can be trickier to fit in new members, and the last thing we want is for you to feel like a spare part!

When do you rehearse?

Rehearsals are usually 3 or 4 times a week on weekday evenings and weekends. Rehearsal schedules are set by the director and committee before rehearsals begin for each new show. They can vary depending on how large the cast and production will be, so it may be that rehearsals are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, or maybe just Tuesdays and Thursdays. If the cast is large you may not be called for every rehearsal.

Do I have to pay a membership fee?

Membership fees are £25 per year for a full member, £8 per year for those aged 18 and under, if you are unemployed or if you are a student. Details of how to make a payment are included on the membership form.

How do I join

Start by just dropping us a line using the form below. Our membership Secretary will get back in touch and start the ball rolling. If we are in rehearsal, then you'll be invited to come and watch to see what it's all about and to meet some of the company. If you like what you see then we'll give you a membership form to fill in and ask you to pay the subscription fee. Alternatively if you want to plough straight in, then you can download our membership form and send it straight off to us.
