'Julius Caesar'
& 'The Winter's Tale'

venue

Railway Institute

Dates

18th February - 2nd March 1957

Directors

A.G. Revill & L. H. Titmuss

As was the custom at the time in 1958 we presented our 'Shakespeare Festival' - two back-to-back productions in consecutive weeks at the old Derby Playhouse in Sacheveral Street.

This was the second time that 'Julius Caesar' had been presented by the society and this production featured a musical setting for Lucius's song in Act III that was composed especially for the show.

'The Winter's Tale', forming the second half of the festival, was being presented for the third time. This would also be the last time that the society performed at the Railway institute, with 1958's productions of 'The Merchant Of Venice' and 'Henry V' being staged at the Playhouse.

We hope to be able to add more information and photographs from this production soon.
