“A play that will appeal to anyone with a sense of humour…”
Review from Kev Castle Reviews

Following her in-house production of ‘The Regina Monologues’ in 2018, Director Niamh-Elizabeth Mourton returned to the play for a full production at the Duchess Theatre in Long Eaton in March of 2020. The bigger stage and public venue lent this production the chance to grow and change from its previous incarnation with a new cast, larger set and more sophisticated design. The play remained a fantastic re-telling of the lives of the six wives of Henry VIII, moving easily between humour, warmth and poignancy in the hands of a very talented cast.

As an additional treat for audiences the show was presented as a double-bill with a short introductory monologue from Henry himself - ‘Henry On The Eighth’, written and directed especially for the production by Caroline Reader. This provided a fun and fascinating companion piece to the main show as Henry, characterised here as an aging business magnate, told his side of the story.

Although we didn’t realise it at the time, this would mark the company’s final performance before the Coronavirus pandemic caused theatres across the UK to close their doors.
